Suggested Dance Style: Cha-cha Con Tejas has a rhythm of a Cha-cha. It has lots of movement in it, and style is quite important in order to look good while performing the dance, as well as being able to perform it correctly and perform it well. The slow steps should be long and pronounced and the quick steps should be made small, quick and sharp. Cha-cha Con Tejas is an isolation dance from the hips on down, any arm movements should be used only to accentuate foot and lower body movements. Proper dance styling should be adhered to at all times.

LEFT HEEL DIAGONAL, HEEL FWD, LEFT BACK-BALL-CHANGE (LEFT COASTER)

1Left toe touch forward with heel angling out to the side

2Left heel touch forward left

3Left foot step back

&Right foot step center next to left foot

4Left foot step forward

RIGHT HEEL DIAGONAL, HEEL FWD, RIGHT BACK-BALL-CHANGE (RIGHT COASTER)

1Right toe touch forward with heel angling out to the side

2Right heel touch forward

3Right foot step back

&Left foot step center next to right foot

4Right foot step forward

ROCK LEFT, BACK RIGHT, ½ TURN LEFT CHA-CHA

1Left foot step forward (rock forward) and twist body slightly to the right

2Rock back on right foot and twist back to center

3&4Make a three count ½ turn to the left with a left foot lead

ROCK RIGHT, BACK LEFT, ¾ TURN RIGHT CHA-CHA

1Right foot step forward (rock forward) and twist body slightly to the left

2Rock back on left foot and twist back to center

3&4Make a three count ¾ turn to the right with a right foot lead

ROCK LEFT, BACK RIGHT, ½ TURN LEFT CHA-CHA

1Left foot step forward (rock for-ward) and twist body slightly to the right

2Rock back on right foot and twist back to center

3&4Make a three count ½ turn to the left with a left foot lead

STEP RIGHT, ½ LEFT, ½ TURN LEFT ON RIGHT CHA-CHA

1Right foot step forward

2Make a ½ pivot turn left

3&4Make a three count ½ turn left with a right foot lead

LEFT BEHIND, RIGHT SIDE, ACROSS-SIDE-IN PLACE

1Left foot step behind right foot

2Right foot step to the side

3Left foot step across and in front of right foot

&Right foot touch to the side and take the weight

4Shift weight to left foot

RIGHT ACROSS, SIDE LEFT, ACROSS-SIDE-IN PLACE

1Right foot step in front of left foot

2Left foot step to the side

3Right foot step across and in back of left foot

&Left foot touch to the side and take the weight

4Shift weight to right foot

REPEAT
